Day 1: Glasgow the city: after scheduled arrival, we explore the sights of Glasgow. The ancient crypt of the Cathedral is the burial place of Kentigen, the Celtic Christian preacher who founded the city. The bridges over the River Clyde look familiar, as the Chain Bridge was designed by a Scottish architect. Accommodation in Edinburgh.
Day 2: The Scottish capital Edinburgh is Britain’s most beautiful city, sightseeing on foot.
Day 3: Getting to know Scotland: after breakfast, depart by coach for the Scottish Highlands. After the mystical Black Mountains, we head into Scotland’s most magical valley, the Glencoe Valley, which proves that we are in the most beautiful country in Europe. We visit the ancient castle of Inveraray, the stronghold of the largest Scottish clan, the Cambelles, where we also listen to the story of Rob Roy. Afterwards, you are invited on a boat trip to see how a salmon farm works and to visit a seal colony. Accommodation near Fort William.
Day 4: On the trail of the Loch Ness Monster and the Highlander: After breakfast, you’ll visit a whisky factory to taste and learn about the making of Scotland’s national drink. The highest mountain peak after Ben Nevis, in the dazzling Glein Shiel valley, is the Five Sisters mountain range. Continue to the Elian Donan Cstle on the tiny island in the lake, which dominates the cover of every tourist brochure. No wonder the movie “Highlander” was filmed here. Loch Ness’s reputation speaks for itself, and we will also try to find the “monster”. Clava Cairns is a relic of prehistoric cultures. The huge stone circles were witness to the magic and rituals of the Druids. Accommodation in Inverness.
Day 5: The real Scotland: after breakfast, visit a fantastic demonstration of sheepdogs by a BBC shepherd. The snow-white, fairytale Blaire Castle is Scotland’s most visited monument for a reason, even Queen Victoria spent long periods of time there. After its sumptuous interior, its grounds are exceptional. Last but not least, the most majestic of all the castles is Glamish Castle, the residence of the royal grandmother. Princess Margaret was born here and the present monarch Elizabeth II spent her childhood here. A favourite with photographers. Accommodation in or around Dundee.
Day 6: Knights Templar and in pursuit of the Fearless: the most attractive town on the east coast, St Andrew. The most important centre of golf today, it owes its existence to the relics of St Andrew, and even the rules of the sport originated here. Dunfermline Abbey was founded by St Margaret (originally from Hungary) and is the resting place of the legendary King Robert Bruce. Here you can learn about the history of the Knights Templar. Our last stop is Stirling Castle, where William Wallace the Fearless fought. After visiting the castle, we transfer to the airport for our flight home.
